In the summer of 2001 I was invited to the Stanford campus to be interviewed for a special edition of NBC’s Dateline. My father was also invited to participate.

My interview began with a visit to the experiment’s location in the basement of the Stanford Psychology Department.  It was the first time I had been there in almost 30 years.

Since the Dateline episode was planned to spend its entire hour on the experiment, I was shown video clips from the experiment and asked my thoughts.  I spent most of the day being interviewed and walking around the campus.

But the one hour Dateline episode was never broadcast.  Instead, excerpts were used to create a story broadcast in 2004 after the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. You can read a transcript of the story here, or watch the story here.
